The United Nations marks every 12th of August as International Youths Day. A day set aside to create awareness on the challenges and achievements of our youths. The focus on this years event was on how to involve our youths in eradicating poverty within our society.
As the world celebrates 'global day of parents' on the1st of June every year, I cant help but wonder what the same world thinks about those who are living and growing without having the experience of what a mother/father relationship is. These are people who are constantly reminded by caregivers that they are not their parents and should therefore be grateful for whatever attempt they make in providing food, shelter, clothing and security which forms the basic needs of every human being. The task of caring for someone else in ones real poor state is a huge one and huge(er) is even the task of trully caring in the real sense of the word 'care'. Then, the real issue is what could be the experience of a child who lives with people that present themselves as "foster parents" but are not parents in any sense of it. i just hope these children will grow up and become parents than the people they see and live with today.
