THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT The role of women in community development is very enormous.   This is because women occupy such sensitive positions in every sphere of our lives, beginning from the fact that they are helpers to men to keepers of home.   When the need arises, most women play the role of doctor/nurse, farmer, teacher and sometimes financial provider of the home amongst other responsibilities.   The role of the woman is so much that they need constant sensitization in every sphere of life because in most homes and communities, the woman bears the huge brunt of the challenges and at times enjoys the successes encountered.   The following are some of the reasons women should fully participate in community development activities. THE NEED FOR THEMATIC INVESTIGATION/RESEARCH IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES

THE NEED FOR THEMATIC INVESTIGATION/RESEARCH IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES The need for research cannot be overemphasized in the organization of community development activities.    A lot of persons have depended on common sense in selecting what they consider as the most common need of the rural dwellers and have ignorantly embarked on such activities.   Thematic investigation is always one of the first activities embarked upon before and after a community development proposal has been approved.   Again, thematic investigation also   means ‘searching for facts; finding answers to questions;   identifying an existing problem and   getting closest solutions to these identified problem’ amongst others. Again, thematic investigation gives the rural dwellers the opportunity to explain in their own words how they feel, what they think and how they make sense of the world they live in.     The following are some of the reasons why we embark on thematic investigation/

OUR PROJECTS

OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROJECT This project aims at creating a portfolio whereby we can have all that is needed to send any out-of-school rural child to school. This project covers all the resources and funds that is needed for scholarships in every academic year in an identified rural community. Such resources includes books, school shoes and bags, school uniforms, computers, tuition fees and such other fees that a child might be asked to pay in the course of the academic year. DAMAGE CONTROL PROJECT  This project caters for all kinds of environmental crisis/harzards within the rural communities and all kinds of epidemics. It also looks to help in certain seasonal problems plaguing our rural communities such as fire outbreaks and dryness of streams that leads to shortage of good drinking water in the villages. Therefore, this project packages relief, immunization and vaccines and any other material that maybe need to curb the disaster at hand. BACKERS PROJECT

ABOUT US

Image
SPLENDOUR VINTAGE HEIGHTS FOUNDATION ABOUT US The need to support and promote the efforts, pains and achievements of the rural dwellers cannot be over-emphasised.  Splendour Vintage Heights Foundation (The Rural People) partners with the rural communities to conscientize them on the true essence of community development and also promotes their struggles and efforts with the help of donors.  We go into the upland and creeks to sensitize the rural dwellers on the need for them to fully contribute and participate in the issues that conceerns their well-being. Furthermore, we help them to identify such programmes that can enhance them educationally, economically, socially and otherwise and put our efforts/resources (human and material) with that of our donors in harnessing their efforts into achieving community development. We have lots of projects that we have embarked upon in bringing rural development to every targeted community.
